Dushanbe, Tajikistan, 13 January 2012 – The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC), Dushanbe and Sino district Khukumats invite you to the official ceremony marking the completion of the installation of an autonomous heating system at the #4 orphanage under the joint USAID-CAREC project “Improving energy efficiency in residential buildings in Dushanbe.” The commissioning of the pilot site is scheduled to begin at 10am on January 24th.
Taking into account the existing heating problems in Tajikistan, including a substantial increase in energy consumption during winter, USAID and CAREC in close cooperation with the municipality of the city of Dushanbe, launched a project to promote energy efficiency (EE) in residential buildings of the Tajik capital. Prior to the 2011-2012 heating season the project team decided to demonstrate the potential of EE technologies on a pre-selected residential building in Dushanbe. It was also agreed to install an autonomous heating system at the №4 orphanage due to adverse living conditions in the building.
Residential and educational blocks of the orphanage have been equipped with an autonomous heating system consisting of main and backup electric boilers as well as a new layout and modern radiators. The modern automated system allows adjusting the room temperature depending on weather conditions and time of the day. Such heating system also allows to save electricity, reducing the load on the electrical network and, most importantly, ensuring a comfortable temperature for living and learning in the orphanage.
The event programme is:
